Mississippi State Bolsters 2027 Recruiting Class with Four New Commitments

Coach Jeff Lebby secures Yoshawn Hudson, Ke’Vontae Pitts, Ayden Coleman and Nash Morgan as the program looks to climb the SEC rankings

A Fresh Batch of Talent

Mississippi State football coach Jeff Lebby announced a busy weekend on the recruiting trail, inking four prospects to the 2027 class. The additions push the Bulldogs’ haul to a 47th national ranking and fifteenth spot within the SEC, a modest but strategic step as the program seeks to rebuild its competitiveness.

Among the newcomers, running back Yoshawn Hudson stands out as a four‑star recruit according to Rivals and a three‑star prospect on 247 Sports. He capped his high school career at Winona High School with 1,544 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns on 162 carries, and he also holds Power‑4 offers from Cincinnati, Wisconsin and Houston.

Athlete Ayden Coleman, a three‑star talent from Louisville, Mississippi, brings a blend of defensive skill and offensive versatility. In 2025 he recorded 84 tackles, eight sacks and an interception, while also catching 19 passes for 225 yards and three scores. Coleman’s suitors include Alabama and Ole Miss, underscoring his rising profile.

Quarterback Nash Morgan, a three‑star recruit per 247, led the Warren Central Vikings to a 12‑2 season and posted 1,577 rushing yards with 27 touchdowns, complemented by 1,452 passing yards and 12 touchdowns. Morgan’s family has deep roots at Mississippi State — his father Josh, along with uncles Rob and Brett, have long been supporters — and he also holds offers from the Air Force Academy, the Naval Academy, West Point and UNLV.

Cornerback Ke’Vontae Pitts, an unrated prospect from Nashville, adds depth to the secondary. He logged 60 tackles and three interceptions at East Nashville Magnet School last year and has attracted FBS interest from East Carolina, Arkansas State, Memphis and Charlotte.

The class, while still early, reflects a targeted effort to blend star power with developmental potential. By leveraging relationships with high schools across the South and maintaining a presence in key recruiting hubs, Mississippi State hopes the 2027 cohort will translate into on‑field impact that lifts the team back into contention for SEC titles.
