Mississippi State basketball coach Chris Jans is reshaping the roster after the program's worst record in a decade, a 13‑19 finish that marked the low point since the 2014‑15 campaign.
Only two players from last season return, highlighted by star guard Josh Hubbard, who is on the cusp of breaking the school's all‑time scoring record.
To give Hubbard the support he needs, Jans has brought in seven transfers, three freshmen and an international prospect, adding depth at both ends of the floor.

RJ Johnson, a guard from Kennesaw State, arrives after averaging 14.5 points and 4.0 assists, while Washington State forward ND Okafor brings 11 points per game, 5.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks. Seton Hall guard Tajuan Simpkins, who contributed 9.7 points per game off the bench, also joins the mix.
Jans says the new pieces are intended to provide Hubbard with more scoring help and to add defensive size, a combination he believes will elevate the team's overall competitiveness.
The Bulldogs' recruiting class has been ranked No. 25 nationally and includes three four‑star prospects, underscoring the optimism surrounding the program's direction.
