Mississippi State to Host Fall Exhibition Series in Biloxi

Bulldogs face Auburn and Southern Miss at Keesler Federal Park in October

Mississippi State University’s baseball program will bring its fall exhibition schedule to the Gulf Coast this October, staging two games in Biloxi against longtime rivals Auburn and Southern Miss. The matchups, part of the Hancock Whitney Coast Classic, are set for October 9 and 10 at Keesler Federal Park, the home field of the Biloxi Shuckers.

A Venue With a Proven Record

Keesler Federal Park has become a familiar battleground for the Bulldogs, who hold a 9‑2 record there, highlighted by an 11‑7 victory over Tulane in March that drew 6,112 fans — the second‑largest crowd in the stadium’s history. The park’s reputation for lively atmospheres and strong community support makes it an ideal setting for these exhibition contests.

Brian O'Connor, head coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, expressed enthusiasm about returning to Biloxi and performing before local fans after a successful March visit. "We’re excited to bring high‑level competition to the Coast and to connect with the passionate fan base that has supported us for years," O'Connor said.

The series carries added significance given the Bulldogs’ historical dominance over their opponents. Mississippi State holds a 121‑100‑1 all‑time record against Auburn and maintains an 88‑45 lead in the series with Southern Miss, underscoring the competitive edge the team brings to each matchup.

Fan Engagement and Community Partnerships

General manager Hunter Reed of the Biloxi Shuckers praised the enthusiasm of both fan bases and highlighted the partnership with Hancock Whitney that makes the games possible. "The passion of these communities is unmatched, and we’re thrilled to host an event that brings together baseball lovers from across the region," Reed noted.

Tickets for the games are available through the Biloxi Shuckers ticket office, with proceeds supporting local youth baseball initiatives. Fans can also follow live updates and behind‑the‑scenes content on social media via the "HailStateBB" channel.
