The 2026 MLB Draft combine will bring together the nation’s most promising high school baseball players, and this year Mississippi is well represented.
Cole Prosek, a senior from Magnolia Heights, arrives as the state’s No. 33 prospect according to MLB Pipeline. He earned Mississippi’s Gatorade Player of the Year after a breakout season that featured a .585 batting average, 54 RBIs and a 4.22 ERA.
Joining him is Kevin Roberts Jr. of Jackson Prep, ranked No. 128 nationally. Roberts posted a team‑high .396 average, collected 40 hits and smashed 10 home runs, underscoring his offensive impact.
Kolby Stringer from West Marion adds a pitching dimension to the trio, boasting a 0.52 ERA, 202 strikeouts and a .427 batting average. His dual‑threat performance placed him at No. 120 in the draft rankings.
A Historic Moment for Mississippi Baseball
Eric Booth Jr., the top Mississippi prospect at No. 6, could extend a streak of three consecutive years in which a Mississippi high school player has been selected inside the top ten. His potential selection would highlight the state’s growing pipeline of talent.
The combine itself runs from June 23‑25 in Phoenix, Arizona, before the MLB Draft itself unfolds on July 11‑12 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Scouts and analysts will be watching closely as these young athletes aim to turn their high school successes into professional opportunities.
If Booth Jr. joins the top ten, it would mark the third straight season a Mississippi high school player has been drafted in that elite group, a testament to the state’s strong baseball tradition and the effectiveness of its high school programs.
