Missouri State University’s basketball program has secured a verbal commitment from J’Dyn Lloyd, a 6‑4 guard hailing from Belleville, Illinois, for the 2027 recruiting class.
Lloyd arrives as a three‑star prospect according to 24/7 Sports, having averaged 18.2 points and 4.9 rebounds while leading Belleville West High School to a 21‑10 record last season. His performance earned him first‑team all‑conference honors, making him the only non‑senior to receive that distinction.
A Recruit with a Clear Vision
The young guard says he can operate on the wing but prefers a guard mentality, describing his approach as an “attack mentality.” That mindset aligns with head coach Cunozo Martin’s vision for a dynamic, up‑tempo style.
Martin first reached out to Lloyd in July 2025, marking his first commitment in the 2027 class. The offer came after a thorough evaluation that saw the Bears fend off interest from Conference USA members Kennesaw State and Middle Tennessee, as well as former Missouri Valley Conference rivals Drake, Illinois State and Southern Illinois.
Lloyd’s decision underscores Missouri State’s growing influence in the regional recruiting landscape, as the program continues to attract talent from the St. Louis metro area and beyond.
