Missouri football kicked off its fall camp on Monday in Columbia, marking the first official workouts of the new season.
The Tigers finished last year with an 8‑5 record and were slotted 10th in the SEC preseason poll, setting a modest but hopeful baseline for the coaching staff.
On offense, Missouri returns a wealth of talent, highlighted by Ole Miss transfer Austin Simmons who is slated to start at quarterback, while All‑American running back Ahmad Hardy continues his recovery from injury.
Defensive reshaping
Defensively, the team will be forced to adapt, as only one starter returns and key pieces such as defensive tackle Sterling Webb have only recently regained eligibility after a court decision.
Head coach Eli Drinkwitz emphasized that the camp is as much about answering lingering questions as it is about unlocking the potential he sees on the roster.
‘We have a lot of pieces that can do a lot of things,’ Drinkwitz said, ‘but we need to turn that potential into performance on the field.’
The upcoming weeks will reveal how quickly the Tigers can gel, with fans and analysts watching closely to see if the offense can live up to its preseason buzz while the defense finds its footing.
