SEC Media Days Set the Stage in Tampa
Missouri’s football program is set to join the SEC Media Days in Tampa, Florida, on July 20, bringing a blend of seasoned leadership and emerging talent to the annual gathering of conference coaches and reporters.
Head coach Eli Drinkwitz will lead the delegation, which includes standout running back Ahmad Hardy, offensive linemen Cayden Green and Nicholas Rodriguez, and defensive backs Jamal Roberts. Each player brings a distinct narrative, from Hardy’s recent brush with violence to the offensive line’s depth concerns.
Hardy’s journey to recovery has been abrupt; the star rusher was shot in the leg earlier this year and has undergone surgery. Doctors have not set a firm return date, leaving his availability for the opening week or even the 2026 season uncertain.
At the quarterback position, Drinkwitz announced Austin Simmons as the Tigers’ starter. Simmons will now operate under new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey and quarterbacks coach Garrett Riley, a pairing that promises a fresh tactical approach.
The right‑tackle spot also remains in flux. With Josh Atkins sidelined by injury, the coaching staff expects a battle between Luke Work and Logan Reichert for the starting role, adding another layer of intrigue to the preseason outlook.
