The Missouri Tigers opened their fall camp this week with a rare outdoor session that drew media attention, marking the first time the team has practiced under the open sky this season.
Outdoor Practice Sets the Tone
Coach Eli Drinkwitz used the session to run situational football drills, emphasizing up‑tempo offensive drives and realistic game scenarios.
Quarterback Austin Simmons led the offense, working closely with standout receivers Cayden Green and Tristan Wilson, while running back Jamal Roberts added depth to the backfield.
On the defensive side, players such as Darris Smith, Jahlil Florence and Santana Banner showcased the unit’s intensity, generating pressure on the quarterback.
Drinkwitz paused the action to call out two fumbles, labeling them 'f(expletive) bull(expletive)', a clear signal that ball security will be a focal point.
Special teams also shone, with kicker Blake Craig nailing four field attempts from 30, 40 and 48 yards, while punter Brunno Reus posted hang times exceeding 50 yards on early drills.
The second offensive unit featured younger talent, including in‑state prospects Khalief Canty Jr. and Jack Lange, who received valuable reps alongside the starters.
Overall, the camp’s blend of outdoor conditions, situational work and mixed‑unit evaluations gives the Tigers a promising foundation as they gear up for the upcoming season.
