A sunny Saturday afternoon saw the historic Pierpont General Store transform into a hub of activity as Mizzou Football joined forces with Columbia Second Chance for a joint pet adoption and autograph signing event in Columbia, Missouri.
The gathering attracted a crowd of eager fans who lined up to meet four Tigers standouts — Ahmad Hardy, Cayden Green, Luke Work and Nasir Pogue — who each took turns signing helmets, jerseys and footballs while prospective adopters browsed the shelter’s kennels.
For Hardy, the appearance carried a particular weight. It marked his first public outing since being shot in Mississippi in May, and he took the opportunity to thank the community for its outpouring of support during his recovery.
A First‑Ever Partnership
The event represented the inaugural collaboration between Columbia Second Chance and the University of Missouri’s football program, a partnership that organizers hope will become a recurring model for blending athletics with animal welfare.
