MLB Awards 2028 All-Star Game to San Francisco

The Bay Area will host the Midsummer Classic for the fourth time, reviving a tradition that dates back to 2007

A Tradition Rekindled

Major League Baseball has selected San Francisco as the host city for the 2028 All-Star Game, bringing the Midsummer Classic back to Oracle Park for the first time since 2007.

The decision adds another chapter to the league’s history of rotating the event among iconic venues, making Oracle Park the eighth active ballpark to host the game multiple times alongside landmarks such as Fenway Park and Wrigley Field.

The Giants will oversee the game for the fourth time in franchise history, having previously staged the All-Star Game at Candlestick Park in 1961 and 1984.

All-Star Week will feature a full slate of fan experiences, player appearances and community outreach, highlighting the Bay Area’s deep baseball roots and its reputation as a cultural hub.

Giants President Larry Baer expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying the event will showcase San Francisco’s neighborhoods, natural beauty and vibrant spirit to a global audience.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred noted the selection reflects the region’s recent string of major sporting events and its ability to blend tradition with innovation.
