Mobile County Sportsplex Expands with New Fields and Facilities

A $11.7 million investment adds seven soccer and multi‑sport fields, a concession building, and a 300‑space parking lot to boost local sports and tourism

Investing in Community and Competition

The Mobile County Sportsplex Soccer Complex has just completed a major expansion that now boasts seven well‑maintained fields, up from its original three. The project also introduced a modern restroom and concession building and a 300‑space parking lot to accommodate the growing number of visitors.

The new infrastructure is designed to host a variety of field sports, including soccer, rugby, lacrosse, flag football and ultimate frisbee. This versatility gives local leagues and traveling teams more flexibility in scheduling practices and tournaments.

County Commission President Connie Hudson emphasized that the upgrades will provide a better experience for young athletes and their families while positioning Mobile County as a regional hub for sports events. "These improvements are about more than just fields; they’re about creating opportunities for our kids and boosting the local economy," Hudson said.

The $11.7 million project, which broke ground in September 2024, is part of a broader master plan that originally called for ten fields and a championship arena with a 2,000‑seat spectator complex. While the full vision may evolve, the current phase already enhances the complex’s capacity to host regional competitions.

Beyond the fields, the development is expected to draw visitors from across the Southeast, boosting local tourism and generating economic activity for nearby businesses. The expansion underscores Mobile County’s commitment to supporting youth sports and fostering community growth.
