A New Era for Mobile Youth Sports
The Mobile County Sportsplex Soccer Complex has just completed a major upgrade, adding four newly lit and re‑sodded fields that bring the total to seven operational pitches. Alongside the fields, a second restroom and concession building and a 300‑space parking lot have been constructed, reshaping the venue into a more convenient hub for families and players.
The $11.7 million Phase II project was financed by the Mobile County Commission and executed by a team that included Duplantis Design Group for engineering and design, Rogers & Willard for the new building, and Mid‑America Sports Construction for the fields and parking infrastructure. Work began in September 2024, allowing the new surfaces to be ready sooner than the original schedule.
Beyond sheer quantity, the expansion reflects a broader vision that includes a Championship Field with a 2,000‑seat capacity and plans for additional recreational amenities. The complex already hosts soccer, lacrosse, rugby, flag football, Ultimate Frisbee and other field sports, making it a versatile destination for regional tournaments.
Mobile County Commission President Connie Hudson highlighted the impact of the upgrade, noting that the new facilities will give young athletes better opportunities to compete, provide families with modern amenities, and draw regional events that boost the local economy.
Situated at the intersection of Interstates 10 and 65 in Mobile, Alabama, the 200‑acre sportsplex is positioned to become a premier regional hub. Future phases will add more recreational features and transportation improvements, cementing its role as a cornerstone of the area’s athletic landscape.
