National Championships Beckon Alabama’s Youth Teams
Two teams from Mobile United Rush 2012 are set to travel across the country next month, each earning a spot in the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships. The girls’ side captured the Alabama State Cup in the under‑14 division, while the boys secured the state title in their age group. Both squads will begin group play on July 16, where they will meet some of the nation’s most respected youth clubs.
Girls’ Triumph and Journey to Tennessee
Coached by Espoir “KC” Njandagizi, the girls have spent years honing their chemistry on the field. Goalkeeper Sophia Hartgrove notes that clearer communication will be key as they face tough opponents in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Caroline Turner, who helped the team win the state cup, says it is an honor to wear the colors of Mobile and Alabama on a national stage.
Boys Aim for a Deep Run in Utah
Guillermo “Memo” Lumbreras, the boys’ head coach, praises the squad’s relentless work ethic. Midfielder Andre Lumbreras believes the team has the talent to advance far, while teammate Ryleigh Adlington is eager to test himself against the country’s best. The side will open its campaign in Salt Lake City, Utah, against elite competition.
Teamwork, Community, and Faith
Beyond tactics, the players stress the relationships that have developed over seasons. Mary Payton Fleming reflects on the friendships forged through years of shared effort, while Jett Bhiemrao highlights the constant preparation that defines their approach. Adam Hijaz adds that support from coaches, parents and even a higher power has been instrumental in reaching this moment.
Representing more than just a club, the teams carry the pride of Mobile, Baldwin County and the entire state of Alabama. Their participation underscores the growing strength of youth soccer in the region and serves as inspiration for the next generation.
