Kosmont Companies, the consulting firm engaged to evaluate the proposal, pointed out several obstacles, including a $90 million price tag for a smaller venue and a $43.4 million gap between projected revenues and required expenditures.
The city has been in exclusive talks with the United Soccer League since September 2024, but a survey of local residents revealed limited appetite for creating a tax district to underwrite the stadium's cost.
Councilmember Nick Bavaro, who originally pledged that the stadium would become a reality, later described the proposal as 'dead on arrival,' underscoring the shifting political landscape.
