Monmouth Field Hockey Announces 2026 Schedule Aiming for CAA Crown

The Hawks target a third straight regular‑season title while confronting a slate of nationally ranked opponents

Monmouth University’s field hockey program unveiled its 2026 schedule on Monday, a slate that not only tests the Hawks but also positions them to chase a third straight regular‑season Coastal Athletic Association title. The announcement comes as the team rides the highest national ranking in program history — No. 11 in the latest NFHCA poll — and looks to translate that momentum into a third consecutive CAA championship.

A Schedule Packed with Powerhouses

Seventeen opponents dot the calendar, and seven of them finished the 2025 season inside the NFHCA top 20. Even more impressive, five of those squads earned at‑large bids to the NCAA Tournament, underscoring the depth of competition awaiting Monmouth.

The opening salvo arrives on August 28 at home against Big Ten foe Rutgers, a team that concluded 2025 ranked No. 19 and fell 4‑2 to the Hawks the previous year. That early victory gave Monmouth a confidence boost and set a tone for the campaign.

Following a quick two‑game stretch against Delaware and Rider, the Hawks will host Temple on September 11 before embarking on a three‑game home stand that includes a rematch with Penn State and a showdown with Hofstra on September 25.

The latter part of the regular season promises a gauntlet of Ivy League and regional powerhouses, beginning with Yale on October 2, then Michigan on October 11, and a trip to Charlottesville to meet the University of Virginia. Each of those programs not only boasted top‑20 finishes last year but also proved capable of altering the playoff picture.

The final regular‑season contests against Fairfield, Harvard, and Northeastern will test the Hawks’ depth, especially after a narrow 2‑0 loss to Harvard earlier in the year. The CAA Championship, scheduled for November 4‑6 at Drexel University’s Buckley Field, will bring together the conference’s top three ranked teams, including the Hawks, for a chance at the title.
