Three Monmouth University field hockey standouts — Charlie Bowman, Maia McCourt and Eabha Curran — have earned spots on the U21 Ireland Pathway Squad as the nation gears up for the EuroHockey Championships slated for July 21 through August 1, 2026 in Valencia, Spain.
Coach Carli Figlio, who has overseen the team’s rise in recent seasons, praised the trio’s dedication, noting that their selection reflects months of relentless effort both on and off the pitch.
On the Home Front
Bowman and McCourt were instrumental in Monmouth’s breakthrough year, guiding the Hawks to a Colonial Athletic Association title and a top‑11 national ranking. Bowman’s 1.77 goals‑against average and 75 percent save percentage highlighted a defensive turnaround, while McCourt contributed two goals and two assists during her freshman campaign.
Curran, an incoming freshman, arrived with a reputation as International Athlete of the Year at University College Cork, where she previously represented Ireland at the Junior World Cup in Chile. Her accolades underscore a trajectory that blends academic promise with elite sport.
