Schedule Overview
Monmouth announced a 2026 campaign that features eight home contests, beginning with a pair of early‑season matchups against Iona on August 20 and Drexel on August 29. The Hawks will then embark on a road trip to face Penn on September 1 before returning to West Long Branch for a home game against La Salle on September 6.
Head coach Robert McCourt, now in his fifth year leading the program and his fourth season within the Coastal Athletic Association, emphasized the importance of the nonconference slate. "We’re testing ourselves against strong opponents early on," McCourt said, noting that the schedule is designed to sharpen the team for the rigors of league play.
Key Returners and Coaching Staff
The squad returns three of its top five scorers from last season and will rely on starting goalkeeper Herman Johnsen, whose presence between the posts provides stability as the team navigates a demanding schedule.
McCourt’s staff will continue to blend experienced veterans with emerging talent, aiming to maintain the momentum built during the program’s transition into the CAA.
Conference Challenges and Tournament Outlook
September will bring a series of tough CAA contests, including road games against Hofstra and Northeastern and a home clash with Stony Brook. The competitive nature of the North Division means the top three teams will earn berths in the CAA Tournament beginning November 5, adding extra urgency to each match.
The regular season will close with back‑to‑back road trips to Temple on October 27 and Drexel on October 31. With the tournament looming, the Hawks are focused on securing one of the coveted spots and making a deep run in the postseason.
