A Celebration on the Field
The spring soccer season of AYSO Region 79 in Monroe wrapped up with a lively jamboree at Wolfe Park, drawing families, players and local supporters for a day of matches and camaraderie.
The event followed the annual coach game, where mentors swapped strategies and shared a few laughs before the youngsters took the stage. Reporters and volunteers alike enjoyed the atmosphere, noting that every coach left the pitch injury‑free and with a smile.
Andy Hutchison, a reporter for The Monroe Sun, stepped onto the field not only with a notebook but also with a whistle, coaching his U6 co‑ed side. His team posted four goals and two assists, a testament to the offensive spark and defensive cohesion that defined the tournament.
Beyond the scoreboard, the youngsters displayed impressive skill sets — sharp passing, disciplined defending and confident goaltending — signaling a bright pipeline for the sport in the region.
Looking Ahead to the Fall‑Spring Campaign
Registration for the upcoming 2026‑27 fall‑spring season is now open, with a $50 discount available to families who sign up by June 27. New participants can create an account on the AYSO Region 79 website, while returning families can log in to secure their spots.
The organization encourages early enrollment to guarantee placement on preferred teams and to help coordinate field assignments across the region.
