Monsanna Torbert, a 2027 four-star cornerback from Princeton High in Cincinnati, announced his commitment to the University of Michigan on Wednesday, edging out a fierce rivalry with Ohio State.
The decision places him at No. 4 among Ohio prospects and No. 97 nationally among the 2027 recruiting class, marking the third time a top-100 recruit has chosen Michigan in recent weeks.
During his official visit, Torbert was particularly impressed by Michigan’s newly assembled coaching staff and the program’s recent efforts to engage with recruits.
His pledge follows the commitments of wide receiver Quentin Burrell and offensive tackle Jakari Lipsey, both also ranked among the nation’s top prospects.
Torbert’s high school career includes a standout junior season in which he recorded 40 tackles and three interceptions, while also serving as a quarterback for Taft, where he amassed over 2,000 yards of total offense.
Coaches highlight his advanced tracking skills, agility and potential to become a multi-year contributor at the Power Four level.
A Recruit with Versatility
Beyond the numbers, Torbert is known for his football IQ and ability to adapt to multiple defensive schemes, a trait that aligns with Michigan’s defensive philosophy.
The Wolverines hope his addition will bolster a secondary that has been rebuilding in recent years, providing depth and experience for upcoming seasons.
Looking Forward
With the 2027 class taking shape, Michigan’s recruiting momentum signals a strategic push to maintain competitiveness in the Big Ten and on the national stage.
