Montana State University (MSU) has unveiled its 2026‑27 basketball schedule for both the men’s and women’s programs, marking the start of a season that will begin with exhibition games and culminate in the Big Sky Conference Tournament in March.
Men’s Basketball Outlook
The men’s team opens the year on October 18 with an exhibition clash against Denver, then returns home to face Long Beach State on November 7. Their first true test arrives on January 23 when they host their longtime rivals in the Cat‑Griz showdown. Non‑conference road trips include visits to Gonzaga on November 17, BYU on November 12, San Diego State on December 11 and Colorado State on November 2, while the first Big Sky opponent, Cal Poly, awaits at home on November 15.
Women’s Basketball Outlook
The women’s squad begins its campaign on November 2 against Black Hills State before heading to Florida for the Jacksonville Classic Tournament from November 23 to 25, where they will meet Oklahoma and Middle Tennessee. The schedule also features high‑profile non‑conference matchups against Iowa, Oregon, UNLV and South Dakota State, with the first home conference test coming on December 5 against Northern Arizona. The team will host the Lady Griz on January 23 and ultimately compete in the Big Sky Tournament in Boise, Idaho, beginning March 5.
