A Global Game in a Local Venue
Lackawanna Station in Montclair will host a 'Summer of Soccer' series from June 11 through July 19, turning the historic transit hub into a lively showcase of the sport.
The schedule features nearly every match from the group stage to the final, broadcast live on the station’s screens, allowing fans to follow the tournament without leaving the neighborhood.
Beyond the games, the event offers a family‑friendly program that includes food vendors, dance performances and interactive activities designed to engage younger audiences.
Celebrating Culture on the Field
A highlight is the International Food & Dance Festival on July 12, where local and visiting culinary creators and dance ensembles will present flavors and moves from around the world, underscoring soccer’s role as a cultural bridge.
Organizers say the series reflects Montclair’s diverse population, using the universal language of football to foster a sense of belonging and to spark conversations about migration, identity and community health.
Sponsors have also set up activations that blend sport with local art, turning the station’s platforms into pop‑up galleries and music stages that pulse with the rhythm of the tournament.
