The Montgomery County boys’ soccer team spent a week at Centre College’s premier summer camp, a move that has already begun to shape their outlook for the 2026 season.
Camp Highlights
During the camp the squad compiled a 4‑2 record in league play, defeating opponents from a range of high schools including Central Hardin, Danville and Meade County, while falling to defending champions McCracken County and Bryan Station.
Junior Colton Martin emerged as the team’s leading scorer, finishing the weekend atop the goal chart, with fellow junior Cailen Vice close behind after a standout season last year.
Scoring was spread across the roster, with Oliver Smith and sophomores Tucker Miller, Emery Crowe and Connor Spencer all finding the net, while Martin and Vice also took part in a scrimmage against college athletes.
Recognition and New Additions
The camp also yielded recognition, as Chace Lopez, Colton Martin and Caleb Davidson earned spots on the All‑Camp Team, highlighting the individual talent on display.
Practicing without senior captains Charlie Hughes, Waylon Stewart and Carter Poe, the Indians welcomed three guest players — two goalkeepers from East Jessamine and a field player from Harrison County — adding depth and fresh perspectives.
Beyond the on‑field work, the experience fostered stronger chemistry among the players, giving the team a cohesive foundation as they look toward the upcoming season.
With a blend of seasoned juniors, rising sophomores and new additions, Montgomery County enters the 2026 campaign poised to build on the momentum generated at Centre College, aiming to translate camp lessons into on‑field success.
