A New Era for Montour Football
Montour's junior quarterback Brandon Bennett has quickly become the face of the program after stepping into the starting role following Trey Hopper's departure. In his first full season as starter, Bennett threw for 1,453 yards and 15 touchdowns while also adding 414 rushing yards and six scores, showcasing a rare dual-threat skill set.
Coach Lou Cerro has drawn parallels between Bennett and former standouts such as Cam Newton, as well as alumni Dillon Buechel and Jake Wolfe, emphasizing the quarterback's poise and physical presence on the field.
The offense also benefits from a talented receiving corps that includes senior Zander Stern, sophomore Archie Collins and senior Dom Baron, who have helped stretch defenses and create big-play opportunities.
Beyond the offensive side of the ball, Bennett is attracting attention from college programs for his defensive versatility, with recruiters eyeing him for potential safety or outside linebacker roles at the next level.
With 12 Division I offers already in hand, including scholarships from Pitt and West Virginia, Bennett's ambitions extend to guiding Montour toward WPIAL and PIAA championships, a goal that has been underscored by the team's narrow first‑round playoff exit to New Castle last season.
