Monty Alcaraz Appointed Athletic Director at Timnath Middle-High School

A seasoned coach transitions to school leadership, succeeding Emily Dunn

Monty Alcaraz, a veteran basketball coach with three decades of experience in Northern Colorado, has been named the new athletic director and assistant principal at Timnath Middle-High School.

He will replace Emily Dunn, who has served as the school’s inaugural athletic director since the campus opened in August 2022, and will continue in her new capacity as an athletic coordinator.

A Strategic Leadership Shift

Alcaraz’s coaching résumé includes stints at Fort Collins High School and Windsor, where he guided teams to repeated playoff appearances and amassed a 121‑30 record over six seasons as head coach of the boys program.

During his tenure at Fort Collins, the program achieved its first Great Eight appearance in nearly three decades, a milestone that underscored his impact on the local basketball landscape.

Alcaraz expressed admiration for Dunn’s stewardship, stating his intention to support the existing coaches, staff and athletes as the school continues its rise as a regular championship contender across multiple sports.

The appointment comes as Timnath Middle-High School, now in its fourth year of competition, has already established itself as a perennial contender for titles in a variety of sports, reflecting the growing athletic culture of the community.

Beyond the sidelines, Alcaraz’s daughters, Taylor and Avery, have set numerous scoring and shooting records at Fort Collins High School since 2021, adding a family legacy to the district’s sports narrative.
