The Morgan State Bears have released their 2026‑27 non‑conference basketball schedule, a 15‑game roadmap that blends regional rivalries with marquee matchups against nationally ranked opponents.
A challenging road ahead
The Bears will open the season with six home contests at Hill Field House, while also traveling to face Cheyney University, Virginia University of Lynchburg, Niagara, UMBC, Towson, North Carolina A&T, Cornell, Mount St. Mary's, Manhattan, Mercyhurst, George Mason, Maryland, Longwood, and Auburn.
Among the highlights are games against Maryland and Auburn, programs that bring a national spotlight to the schedule, as well as a mix of regional foes that promise competitive environments for the team.
The inaugural 410 Invitational will be staged on campus, featuring the Bears in a mini‑tournament against UMBC and Towson, offering an early test before the MEAC slate begins.
Leading the charge are senior standouts Alfred Worrell Jr., who averaged 17.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game and earned BOXTOROW All‑American honors, and Elijah Davis, who contributed 13.8 points, 5.9 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game during his tenure.
Head coach Kevin Broadus, the reigning MEAC Coach of the Year, will guide the Bears through this demanding stretch, leveraging his experience and strategic acumen to sharpen the team for conference play.
The schedule also carries historical significance; the Bears have not beaten Manhattan since 2016, and their most recent victory over Maryland dates back to 2008, a game in which Reggie Holmes was the offensive catalyst.
While the non‑conference slate is designed to test the squad, it also serves as a crucible for building chemistry and confidence heading into the full MEAC schedule, which will be announced later in September.
