Regional Baseball Action Heats Up Across South Dakota
Mount Vernon secured a 9-6 victory over Dimock/Emery in the District 5B amateur baseball tournament, advancing to the next round of play. Bradley Dean anchored the Mount Vernon pitching staff, throwing a complete game and recording 13 strikeouts while battling through a tight contest.
The offensive contributions came from Tanner Van Driel, Spencer Neugebauer and Parker Mandel, who each added key hits that helped the Mount Vernon offense stay ahead. Meanwhile, Landon Waddell took the mound for the opposing Raptors, striking out nine batters but ultimately surrendering the lead.
In District 5B elimination action, Winner/Colome posted an 11-4 win over Corsica, while Colome followed up with a 19-10 triumph over Winner Demons in a high-scoring affair that featured 38 total hits and 10 walks.
Other regional semifinals saw Dell Rapids PBR defeat Canova 7-1, and Tabor rout Lesterville 12-2 in an eight-inning contest where Josiah Peterson delivered four hits and two RBIs while pitching seven shutout innings.
Looking ahead, Mount Vernon will meet Platte, Winner/Colome is set to face the Parkston Mudcats, and Tabor prepares for a matchup against Wynot (Neb.) as the tournament moves into its next stage.
