Mount Women's Soccer earned its first positive result of the season on Saturday, playing to a 0-0 stalemate against Richmond. The defensive effort was the story of the night, as the team limited the opposition to a single shot on target while preserving a clean sheet.
Goalkeeper Abby Makaela was busy, making two saves from ten shots, nine of which came in the second half. Her composure under pressure kept the score level and gave the backline the space to organize.
The defensive line, anchored by Payton Meara, Addy Gallagher, Molly Gannon and Jessica Ras, executed a disciplined performance, clearing crosses and blocking passing lanes. Their collective work allowed the midfield to dictate tempo without being exposed.
On the offensive side, Lillian Young tested Richmond early, firing a shot within the opening seven minutes that was comfortably saved by goalkeeper Veronica Rrapi. Erin Antone emerged as the team's most active attacker, generating the most attempts on goal.
Looking Ahead to Iona
The next challenge arrives on September 5, when Mount travels to New Rochelle, New York, to face Iona at 11 a.m. The match will be played on the Iona College campus, offering the team a chance to build on the defensive foundations laid against Richmond.
