The Mountain West Conference announced its weekly player honors on Tuesday, spotlighting two standout performances from the conference’s soccer circuit.
Weekly Accolades
Amir Anwary, a sophomore forward from Livermore, California, earned Offensive Player of the Week after guiding San José State to a split record, including a 4‑2 victory over Saint Mary’s in which he netted two goals and added two assists.
His six‑point outing marked the first time the sophomore combined multiple goals with multiple assists in a single match, underscoring his growing impact on the Spartans’ attack.
Defensive Player of the Week went to Hugo Lemos, the senior goalkeeper from A Coruña, Spain, who backstopped UNLV to a 2‑1 win over CSU Bakersfield with a season‑high six saves and an assist.
Lemos posted a 2‑1 record over the week, making eight saves while allowing only two goals, a performance that helped the Rebels stay competitive in a tight conference race.
Both honors reflect the conference’s emphasis on all‑around contributions, as coaches praised the offensive spark provided by Anwary and the shot‑stopping excellence of Lemos.
