A Surge of Spartan Talent in NHL Development Camps
Eighteen members of the Michigan State University hockey roster recently returned from NHL Development Camps, where they joined a select group of prospects across the league.
The camps, held in arenas from Anaheim to Calgary, gave the Spartans a chance to test themselves against top talent, with several former and committed players making notable impressions.

Ryker Lee used the Nashville Predators’ camp to focus on winning puck battles, while Tommy Bleyl, drafted 31st overall after the Predators moved up in the second round, confirmed his intention to join MSU in the fall.

Veterans like Shane Vansaghi, now in his third Flyers camp, and newcomers such as Cullen McCrate, who attended his first Boston Bruins camp, emphasized the competitive environment and the value of the developmental experience.
Looking Ahead to the New Season
With training set to begin together after the camps, the group is eager to translate camp gains into on‑ice success for the upcoming season, a prospect that has the coaching staff and fan base excited.
