A camp with a purpose
Darius Muasau, a third‑year linebacker for the New York Giants, returned to his Hawaiian roots last weekend to host a football camp at Mililani High School. The event, coordinated through his Muasau Foundation, attracted hundreds of children who rotated through drills designed to sharpen technique, build teamwork and spark a love for the game.
Participants moved from one station to the next, practicing everything from tackling fundamentals to route‑running patterns. Parents and coaches praised the organized layout and the positive energy that Muasau brought to the field, noting that the camp felt like a mini‑college clinic on the island.
Speaking to the crowd, Muasau said he hopes the experience will plant seeds that grow into lifelong ambitions. "I want these kids to see that hard work and dedication can open doors, whether on the field or in life," he explained, emphasizing his desire to make the camp a regular fixture in the community.
The linebacker also took the opportunity to talk about his upcoming NFL responsibilities. He confirmed that he will report to Giants training camp on July 23 and expressed excitement about the team's new head coach, John Harbaugh, who took over the helm this offseason.
Muasau highlighted a handful of young players he believes could shape the Giants' future, naming Cameron Skattebo and Jaxson Dart as emerging talents worth watching. "We have a lot of youthful energy, and I’m eager to see how they develop under Coach Harbaugh," he added.
Looking ahead, Muasau said he envisions the camp evolving into an annual tradition that not only refines athletic skills but also reinforces values such as perseverance and community service. "If we can give even one kid a reason to chase a dream, it’s worth it," he concluded.
