A new era for inclusive athletics
Murfreesboro’s Miracle Field has received a comprehensive surface upgrade that replaces the aging pour‑in‑place rubber with a modern, weather‑resistant turf system. The new playing field is engineered specifically for special‑needs athletes, offering a safer, more consistent surface that can withstand light rain without compromising performance.
The installation, completed by The Surfacing Group just days before the league’s opening day on August 21, involved the coordination of 12 teams and roughly 130 participants. By allowing games to continue in damp conditions, the upgraded turf eliminates many of the cancellations that previously disrupted the season.
Future enhancements on the horizon
City officials have outlined a series of additional improvements slated for the coming months. Plans include new picnic tables, chairs, and playground equipment, as well as a wheelchair‑adapted swing to further broaden accessibility for families visiting the site.
The field’s opening in May 2017 marked a milestone for inclusive recreation in the region, and the recent upgrades build on that foundation. With the new surface in place, the community looks forward to a vibrant season of baseball and tee‑ball that welcomes participants of all abilities.
