NABC Launches Inaugural Flight School with Nike
The National Association of Basketball Coaches revealed on May 21 that it will host its first Flight School, a professional development event sponsored by Nike and held on the company's Philip H. Knight Campus just outside Portland, Oregon.
The gathering will bring together 25 assistant coaches from across the country, including American University’s associate head coach Jackie Manuel, who has earned a reputation for shaping a dominant defensive scheme for the Eagles.
Participants will engage in a series of educational panels, mock interview sessions and networking opportunities designed to sharpen leadership skills and expand professional connections ahead of the upcoming season.
Focus on Leadership and Innovation
The curriculum emphasizes modern coaching strategies, analytics and player development, reflecting the NABC’s commitment to advancing the sport at the collegiate level.
American University’s defensive units have climbed to second place in the Patriot League this year and topped the conference in the previous campaign, a testament to Manuel’s impact on the program’s identity.
The initiative also highlights the collaborative effort among head coaches, conference officials and other stakeholders who helped select the invitees, underscoring the event’s credibility and reach.
Beyond skill building, the Flight School aims to prepare a new generation of industry leaders who will influence the future direction of college basketball.
