NASCAR has revealed that North Wilkesboro Speedway will not host a Cup Series race in 2027, bringing to a close the track’s brief return to the championship circuit after a three‑decade absence.
The 2026 season marked the first time since the venue opened in 1969 that it staged a points‑level NASCAR Cup Series event, a milestone that followed years of All‑Star Race exhibitions dating back to 1996.
All‑Star Race Relocation
The 2027 All‑Star Race is slated for May 16, with a second date of May 23 under consideration, though the exact format of the exhibition remains undecided as the series experiments with venue placement.
At the same time, Dover Motor Speedway is slated to re‑enter the regular season after a one‑year hiatus, with its schedule shifted to accommodate the Memorial Day weekend, signaling a broader reshuffling of the tour.
The upcoming changes represent the fifth venue swap for the All‑Star Race since 2020, underscoring NASCAR’s willingness to rotate the event among tracks such as Bristol, Texas and the recently revived North Wilkesboro, while Charlotte continues to dominate the traditional host role.
