NASCAR Makes History with First Race at an Active U.S. Military Base

The 2026 Coronado event blends high‑speed competition with a historic naval celebration

A Milestone on the Waterfront

NASCAR is set to make history by staging its inaugural race on an active U.S. military installation, Naval Base Coronado in San Diego, California, over the weekend of June 19‑21, 2026.

The temporary 3.4‑mile, 16‑turn street circuit will weave through runways, roads and tarmac, featuring signature sections such as the Coronado Chicane and Carrier Corner, while more than 3,000 barriers will be positioned to secure the course.

Fans can expect a packed schedule: the Craftsman Truck Series opens the weekend on Friday evening, followed by the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series on Saturday, and the Cup Series finale on Sunday, each broadcast on FS1, The CW and Prime Video respectively.

The event coincides with the Navy’s 250th anniversary, offering a spectacular backdrop of San Diego Bay that will be visible to spectators as they watch the action unfold alongside active runways.

Attendance requires a government‑issued photo ID for anyone 18 or older, and while general admission for Saturday and Sunday has sold out, limited hospitality packages may still be obtainable.
