Details of the 2026 Chase
The Cup Series Chase will feature 16 drivers competing in ten races that begin on September 6, 2026, with the championship ultimately decided at Homestead‑Miami Speedway in November.
The O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and the Craftsman Truck Series will each run their own distinct Chase schedules — 12 drivers in nine races for the former, starting September 5, and ten drivers in seven races for the latter, kicking off September 17.
Four drivers have already secured their spots in the Cup Series field, while seven and five drivers are locked into the O’Reilly and Truck Chases respectively; the remaining places will be decided during the final weeks of the regular season.
Strategic Implications
The shift places a premium on consistency, strategic pit calls and the ability to rebound from setbacks, as a single bad race no longer eliminates a title contender.
