Iowa Speedway Prepares for Historic 2027 NASCAR Weekend
The NASCAR Cup Series will return to Iowa Speedway on July 4, 2027, marking the third consecutive year the track has sold out its Independence Day event, underscoring the venue’s growing popularity on the national racing calendar.
Track owner Iowa Speedway plans to complete a $14 million repaving project by November, laying down a fresh asphalt surface that will enable teams to begin tire testing as soon as the new pavement is ready, a timeline that could reshape preparation schedules for the series.
The investment, which totals nearly $20 million, is being jointly funded by NASCAR and the State of Iowa, reflecting a collaborative effort to boost both the racing product and the overall fan experience at the historic venue.
Upgrades will touch several areas of the venue, including the Newton Club, premium suites, midway displays, walk‑through zones, gates and parking lots, all intended to enhance comfort and accessibility for spectators while preserving the track’s historic character.
These improvements underscore a long‑term commitment to maintaining Iowa Speedway as a premier venue on the NASCAR calendar, ensuring it can host high‑profile events for years to come and continue to attract fans from across the United States.
