A Return to the Bay
NASCAR will once again transform the naval airstrip at Coronado into a 3.4‑mile, 16‑turn street circuit known as the Qualcomm Circuit, bringing the excitement of the Cup Series and the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series to the heart of San Diego’s waterfront. The 2026 edition sold out, drawing fans who experienced the unique blend of racing thrills and military heritage along San Diego Bay.
This year’s weekend, branded as NASCAR San Diego Weekend presented by Anduril, will feature the Cup Series on Sunday, August 1, with live coverage on TNT, truTV and HBO Max, while the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series takes place on Saturday, July 31, streaming on The CW and the ESPN App.
Racing Across the Services
Beyond the on‑track action, the event underscores a partnership between NASCAR, the U.S. Navy and the San Diego community, highlighted by Navy Community Night on July 30, which offers free access to practice, qualifying and interactive displays that celebrate naval history and the sport’s growing fan base.
Looking ahead, NASCAR and the Department of War have announced plans for a rotating military‑base street race concept beginning in 2028, aiming to bring the spectacle to installations across the country and to create an enduring tradition that engages service members nationwide.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth described the initiative as more than a race, emphasizing its role in forging a lasting connection between the sport and the military community, while NASCAR San Diego President Amy Lupo praised the event’s success in uniting fans, service members and local stakeholders.
