A Proven Tire Package Returns to EchoPark
The upcoming NASCAR weekend at EchoPark Speedway will see the Cup, O’Reilly Auto Parts and Craftsman Truck Series all operating with tire packages that have already proven themselves earlier in the season.
Cup Series teams will receive nine total sets, eight of which are brand‑new, while the O’Reilly Series will be equipped with four sets, three of which are designated for race use. The Truck Series will run with a familiar 15‑inch configuration at Lime Rock Park, offering five dry‑weather and four wet‑weather sets.
Tire Innovations and Consistency
Goodyear introduced a new right‑side compound for the Cup field earlier this year, but the updated version for the O’Reilly Series retains the same compound as its predecessor, ensuring consistency for teams that have already adapted.
Because EchoPark is a unique layout that demands specific tire designs, crews will spend the weekend fine‑tuning aerodynamic balance, drafting angles and brake cooling rather than learning a completely new rubber.
Rick Heinrich, a veteran crew chief, emphasized that the stability of the tire package allows drivers to focus on execution, noting that “the biggest variable now is how we manage the draft and tire wear.”
Overall, the strategy underscores a broader trend in NASCAR’s lower‑division support races: leveraging proven equipment to deliver competitive, unpredictable on‑track battles.
