Firecracker 150 Returns to Seekonk
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will descend on Seekonk Speedway on July 1, 2026, for the Firecracker 150, a marquee event sponsored by the Bethesda Leadership Group.
The race forms the centerpiece of the Whelen Midsummer Championship, a three‑race miniseries that pools a $25,000 purse for the overall winner.
Series veteran Jon McKennedy, the 2022 champion, enters as the early favorite, but he will face stiff competition from Stephen Kopcik and Austin Beers, both of whom have shown strong form in recent short‑track outings.
Adding extra intrigue, six‑time Modified Tour champion Doug Coby is slated to make his third start of the season, while Matt Hirschman, the only three‑time series winner at Seekonk, is also expected to contend.
Championship Structure and Incentives
The champion of the Midsummer Championship will take home $5,000 from the $25,000 prize pool, and any driver who captures all three races in the series will earn an additional $10,000 bonus.
Race officials have outlined a detailed weekend schedule that includes qualifying sessions, a prescribed tire allotment and a re‑draw procedure that will set the starting order for the final.
Broadcast and Entry List
The event will be streamed live on FloRacing and the NASCAR Channel, giving fans multiple ways to follow the action.
Beyond the headline act, the entry list also features a roster of rising talents such as Patrick Emerling, Trevor Catalano, Tyler Rypkema, Tommy Catalano, Eric Goodale, Chase Dowling and Paulie Hartwig III, promising a deep field of competition.
With the summer heat setting in, the Firecracker 150 is poised to become a highlight of the Tour’s calendar, blending historic short‑track tradition with a modern championship format.
