NASCAR has reshaped its calendar in recent seasons, swapping traditional ovals for street circuits, military installations and venues across the globe.
The transformation is underpinned by a massive $7.7 billion television agreement that begins in 2025 and involves FOX, NBC, Warner Bros. Discovery and Amazon Prime Video.
A strategic gamble that is paying off
While some long‑time supporters have voiced disappointment over the loss of historic tracks, the series is attracting a younger, more diverse audience.
In 2024 the schedule features races in eleven countries on three continents, and the broadcast reaches 185 nations, delivering the sport to more than 550 million homes worldwide.
The Netflix documentary series “NASCAR: Full Speed” proved the appeal of this new narrative, especially among women and viewers who had never tuned in before.
To support the expanded production values, NASCAR invested $53 million in a new state‑of‑the‑art production facility in Concord, North Carolina.
Schrader and Wallace endorse the shake‑up
Hall of Famer Ken Schrader, together with veteran commentator Kenny Wallace, have publicly stated that the bold schedule changes are a smart business choice that will secure the sport’s future.
Their endorsement adds weight to the notion that the sport’s innovative approach is not merely experimental but financially prudent.
