NASCAR has confirmed that the annual Clash exhibition will be staged at Daytona International Speedway in February 2027, ending a six‑year absence that left fans longing for the spectacle that traditionally kicks off the racing year.
A historic return
The event is slated for February 13, the day before Super Bowl LXI, a timing chosen to capture the attention of a broader sports audience and to amplify the build‑up to the Daytona 500, the season‑long crown jewel.
First introduced in 1979 as a way to generate excitement for the Daytona 500, the Clash has traveled across the country, most recently taking place on the road course at Daytona in 2021 before moving to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Bowman Gray Stadium in recent years.
Legacy Motor Club driver Erik Jones, who captured the 2020 Clash on the Daytona oval before a chaotic finish, expressed enthusiasm about the race’s return to the historic 2.5‑mile track, noting that the high‑speed draft will once again test teams’ superspeedway packages.
NASCAR is currently finalizing a new sponsorship agreement to underwrite the Clash, a deal that is expected to bring fresh branding and financial stability to the event as it prepares for its next chapter.
Series officials say a full 2027 schedule, including the placement of the Clash within the early‑season calendar, will be released in the coming weeks, giving teams and fans a clear view of what promises to be a pivotal start to the year.
