Arrest and Initial Charges
A former high school baseball coach in Nashville, Illinois, was taken into custody on June 29, 2026, after authorities announced a series of criminal allegations that would soon dominate local headlines.
Chad Erich Malawy, who had served as the head baseball coach at Nashville Community High School, now faces multiple felony counts of criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
The investigation was conducted by the Illinois Attorney General’s Office in collaboration with the Nashville Police Department and the Illinois State Police. In addition to the felony charges, Malawy also faces misdemeanor counts of solicitation to obstruct justice and attempted obstruction of justice.
Malawy has been held in the Washington County Jail while the case proceeds, and the school district has placed him on administrative leave pending the outcome of the legal process.
