Nasir Anderson, a five-star point guard and the top recruit on UNC’s radar for the class of 2027, recently turned heads at the Adidas Next Generation EuroLeague under-18 tournament in Athens.
The competition featured a mix of European powerhouses, and Anderson’s squad secured victories over Zalgiris Kaunas and Crvena Zvezda Belgrade to earn a spot in the qualifying round.
Across the tournament he posted averages of 15.7 points, 9.7 assists, 6.0 rebounds, 2.7 turnovers and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 51.4 % on two-pointers, 33.3 % from three and 42.9 % from the free-throw line.
His impact was evident right away, as he recorded 19 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and a steal in his opening game, then followed it up with a near-triple-double of 18 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds in the next outing.
A Standout Performer
A natural playmaker, Anderson’s court vision and scoring ability made him a focal point against a Barcelona side that boasted commitments from both UNC and Duke.
The performances have only heightened the buzz surrounding his recruitment, with the UNC coaching staff watching closely as he continues to refine his game on an international stage.
If he maintains this level of efficiency and versatility, Anderson could become one of the most coveted guards in the 2027 class.
Beyond the numbers, Anderson’s defensive intensity and ability to create opportunities for teammates underscore why he is being labeled a five-star talent. His blend of size, skill and basketball IQ suggests a smooth transition to the next level, whether that comes via a college commitment or a professional pathway.
