Nate Angelo Takes the Helm of Curtis High Baseball

After a distinguished playing and coaching career, Angelo succeeds Bryan Robinson, aiming to elevate the program with fast‑paced intensity.

Nate Angelo, a 1998 graduate of Curtis High School and former Viking pitcher, has been named the new head coach of the school’s varsity baseball program, succeeding Bryan Robinson after his 14‑year tenure ended.

Robinson, who stepped down to devote more time to his family, leaves behind a program that finished the previous season at 17‑9 and reached the Class 4A state tournament quarterfinals.

A Coach With Deep Roots

Angelo’s connection to the school runs deep. He played two seasons of Division III baseball at the University of Mary Washington and the University of Puget Sound before returning to his alma mater as an assistant for twelve years.

His wife, Jenny Swanson, earned a soccer scholarship at Texas Christian University, and the couple’s three sons — Riley, Levi and Gannon — are all active athletes at Curtis, with Riley having been named a 4A SPSL all‑league selection this spring.

Beyond his school duties, Angelo works in wealth‑management and has been leading a national travel team based in Puyallup for several years, sharpening his ability to blend academic rigor with athletic ambition.

Vision for the Program

Angelo says he envisions fast‑paced, intense practices that will prepare the Vikings to compete at a high level. He believes the current roster, which includes his youngest son Gannon as a freshman on the varsity squad, has the talent to challenge for another deep playoff run.

The program’s recent success, coupled with Angelo’s insider perspective, sets the stage for what many expect to be a competitive season ahead.
