Nate Eisfelder announced his commitment to Indiana over the Fourth of July weekend, turning to Instagram to share the news with his followers.
During his lone season with the Volunteers he batted .192, hit two home runs and managed just five hits in 26 at‑bats, appearing in only three of the 30 SEC games and starting two of the tournament contests while teammate Reese Chapman was sidelined.
Coach Josh Elander praised the sophomore’s hitting after he delivered a two‑run double against South Carolina, a moment that briefly lifted the team’s spirits.
Portal Ripple Effects
Eisfelder’s journey to the SEC began at Providence Academy in Johnson City, Tennessee, before he transferred to IMG Academy, where he was ranked No. 100 overall, No. 19 among outfielders and the third‑best player from his home state.
His move adds to a broader exodus from Tennessee, where six outfielders entered the portal and the program lost a total of 18 players, including 15 underclassmen and ten freshmen, this offseason.
Indiana’s coaching staff sees the addition as a low‑risk, high‑upside opportunity, hoping the former Tennessee standout can bring a spark to a program looking to rebuild after a turbulent year.
