A Playing Legacy Turned Coaching Passion
Getman's soccer journey began on the collegiate pitch, where he earned recognition as a first‑team NJCAA All‑Region goalkeeper in 2017 and a USCAA All‑American in 2019. Those performances set the foundation for a coaching career that would span multiple institutions and levels of play.
After hanging up his gloves, Getman transitioned into coaching, first taking on roles at Georgia Southwestern State, East Tennessee State University, and Oglethorpe University. At Georgia Southwestern State, he helped the team double its win total from 2023 to 2024, and under his guidance the goalkeepers posted three shutouts in both 2024 and 2025, underscoring his ability to develop shot‑stoppers.
Family Ties and Service
The Getman family's influence on soccer runs deep. His father, Mike Getman, once led UAB to seven NCAA Tournament appearances, while his brother, Ethan Getman, has contributed as an assistant coach at Evansville and Earlham College. Nate also served in the United States Army from 2014 to 2016, an experience he says has shaped his discipline and teamwork on the field.
Beyond the pitch, Getman balances his professional ambitions with family life. He and his wife, Tori, are parents to three children — Cayden, Max, and Jaxon — who he often cites as a source of motivation and grounding amid a busy coaching schedule.
