Former NBA guard Ajay Mitchell is set to headline the University of California, Santa Barbara’s annual men’s basketball camp, bringing his professional experience to a youth audience in Santa Barbara from June 22 through June 25.
The camp, open to boys in grades one through eight, offers both half‑day sessions from nine in the morning until noon and full‑day sessions that run until three in the afternoon, giving families flexibility in scheduling.
Mitchell, who earned Big West Player of the Year honors at UCSB during the 2022‑23 season and amassed three All‑Big West selections, has been praised for his rapid development in the NBA, a trajectory that culminated in a pivotal role during the Oklahoma City Thunder’s playoff run.
A Rising Star Returns to the West Coast
Campers will work directly with UCSB coaches and current players, participating in skill‑building drills, shooting workshops and game‑situational training designed to sharpen fundamentals and foster a love of the game.
Organizers say Mitchell’s presence not only elevates the camp’s profile but also provides a tangible role model for young athletes aspiring to follow a similar path from college stardom to professional competition.
