North Carolina State’s men’s basketball program is already looking ahead to the 2026‑27 season, and the recent commitment of Appalachian State transfer Jacari Brim has added a new layer of depth to the roster while leaving five scholarships still available.
A Calculated Move for Future Success
Brim, a seasoned point guard, will back up starter Preston Edmead, giving freshman Kingston Whitty the breathing room to develop naturally and allowing the coaching staff to experiment with lineups without sacrificing experience.
The Wolfpack’s roster has undergone a significant overhaul; only two scholarship‑eligible players from last year’s squad — Paul McNeil Jr. and Zymicah Wilkins — return, while seven of the nine eligible teammates entered the transfer portal, six of whom have already secured new homes.
Because Zymicah Wilkins lacks extensive college experience, the staff still needs a backup center behind Kyle Evans and additional front‑court depth, while the perimeter group is shaping up but could benefit from another versatile wing.
With five scholarships remaining, NC State is positioned to address those gaps through the portal and incoming recruits, aiming to turn the current turnover into a competitive edge for the upcoming campaign.
