A Season of Scholarship
The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) has unveiled its latest All‑Academic Teams for both men’s and women’s hockey, honoring student‑athletes who have excelled academically while competing at the NCAA level.
To qualify, players must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 and be active members of their respective squads, underscoring the league’s commitment to balancing athletic ambition with scholarly achievement.
Recognizing Excellence on the Ice and in the Classroom
Among the honorees from Adrian College, the men’s team contributed ten standout students: Ian Amsbaugh, Jackson Bernard, Will Bowman, David Clarke, Julien Jacob, Alec Lovisek, Anthony Mollica, Ryder Nienhuis, Devyn Orpana and Carter Real. Their dedication on the ice is matched by their classroom performance, reflecting the college’s broader emphasis on holistic development.
The women’s side was similarly represented by four Bulldogs — Courtney Ben, Allie Hubenschmidt, Riley Johnson and Vanessa Ruban — who earned the academic distinction after meeting the same rigorous standards.
The league also uses special symbols to denote repeat honorees, with an asterisk marking those who have earned the accolade twice and a hash sign indicating a three‑time recipient, though the current list does not include any three‑time selections.
These recognitions come as part of a broader trend across collegiate sports, where institutions are increasingly spotlighting the academic strengths of their athletic programs, fostering an environment where scholarly excellence is celebrated alongside athletic prowess.
