State Championships Crowned Across Classifications
The North Carolina High School Athletic Association recently concluded its statewide championship tournaments in girls soccer, softball and baseball, bringing a wave of excitement to fans across the state.
In girls soccer, the action spanned all eight divisions, with Woods Charter capturing the 1A title, Christ the King taking the 2A crown, Pine Lake Prep winning the 3A bracket, Carrboro securing the 4A championship, Hickory prevailing in 5A, Catholic dominating the 6A field, Holly Springs topping the 7A category, and Myers Park emerging victorious in the 8A final after a dramatic penalty shootout.
Softball saw its own sweep of classifications, as Robbinsville claimed the 1A championship, Roxboro won the 2A title, West Wilkes took the 3A crown, SW Randolph prevailed in 4A, Enka captured the 5A trophy, South Caldwell earned the 6A championship, Weddington lifted the 7A trophy, and Providence repeated its soccer success by winning the 8A bracket.
Baseball completed the trio of sports with champions across the same eight divisions: NC Leadership Academy won the 1A title, Rosewood took the 2A crown, Whiteville secured the 3A championship, Bunn claimed the 4A trophy, North Lincoln prevailed in 5A, Southern Lee dominated the 6A bracket, Marvin Ridge lifted the 7A trophy, and Providence again stood atop the 8A division.
The breadth of winners underscores the competitive balance within North Carolina high school athletics, with schools from different regions and enrollment sizes each showcasing their talent on the state stage.
